Train Safely
Effective 13 October 2026
VPT is a virtual personal trainer, not a doctor. Please read this before you train with it.
VPT’s suggestions are generated
The routines, exercises, weights, repetitions, goals and schedules VPT suggests are generated automatically. They are based on general fitness principles and the information you give the app. They are not tailored to your medical history, and they can’t account for limits VPT doesn’t know about. They can also simply be wrong.
Use your own judgement
- Don’t perform a movement that causes pain, feels unsafe, or that you’re unsure how to do correctly.
- Stop, rest, lighten the load, change the movement or skip it whenever you need to. You don’t need VPT’s permission.
- Warm up, use equipment as its maker intends, and use a spotter or safety arms for heavy lifts.
- Stop immediately and seek medical help if you feel chest pain, faintness, severe shortness of breath or dizziness.
Talk to a professional first if…
- you have a medical condition, such as a heart, lung, joint or metabolic condition;
- you have an injury, or are recovering from one or from surgery;
- you are pregnant or have recently given birth; or
- you are new to exercise or returning after a long break.
Tell VPT about injuries
When you record an injury, VPT avoids or adapts the movements that load it. Its suggestions are only as good as what it knows, so keep your injuries up to date. Remember that it still can’t assess you the way a professional can.
Your responsibility
By using VPT you accept that you are responsible for your own safety while training. See our Terms of Service for details.
